Yesterday, we woke up with the eye crud!! Isn't it pitiful! Eli didn't seem to be too bothered by it, but by noon his poor eye was swollen shut and I knew it was time to call Dr. John. He said that it was either a blocked lacrimal duct or an eye infection, both of which are common in newborns. So we are using an erythromycin eye gel just in case and he really doesn't seem to mind. We're also applying a warm wash cloth several times daily in case it's a blocked duct. Today the eye seems to be better, but we'll continue to monitor it for improvement. I just had to post pics of it since it looks so sad!!! :(

Connor has had this before and it is so sad to see their poor eyes! There is a guy in our office who just had a baby and had this same problem right after he was born. He got better pretty quick. Since he is sleeping a lot right now, he probably doesnt mind too much. Hope he gets better soon!
that is sad! babies are troopers though! one of ours had a blocked duct for several months...terrible that I can't remember who!
