Happy Fathers' Day!

Happy Fathers' Day to all you dads out there... 1st time dads, experienced dads, dads with children grown, and dads-to-be! I think it is wonderful that there is a holiday to just celebrate fathers. Fatherhood is such a huge responsibility for any man. Despite the feminist movement, fathers are still the head of the household, leaders of the family path, and responsible for providing a Christian foundation. Fathers must be brave to fight off closet monsters, kind to kiss boo-boo's, trustworthy for a child to confide his deepest concerns, humble to seek God's guidance in new situations, and loving when a child makes a mistake. So go give your dad a big hug and a "Thank You" for helping to mold you into the adult you are today. The responsibility is enormous, but the rewards are too!
Eli's 1st Fathers Day! He got daddy a new iron and a golf bag organizer! (And yes... Jay actually asked for a new iron!)

Return of the Beach Bums!

Well, the beach bums are back! We had a fabulous time in Destin with Gram, G-Daddy, Mike, Katie, and Josiah. We stayed in a townhouse right on the beach with lots of room for the babies and a fantastic view. We even got to watch a beach wedding from our balcony one evening. Of course mom took pictures and then found the mother of the bride during the reception to get her e-mail address!!! :) HA! Sorry mom! Too funny! We ate lots of shrimp and seafood at some of our favorite places: the Back Porch and the Lighthouse. FYI... for those of you who haven't been there in a while, Harry T's is no more! I was shocked and very disappointed! We had donuts at the Donut Hole (twice) and did a little shopping at Silver Sands. Eli enjoyed his first beach trip, even though we didn't really spend much time in the sand. I'm more of a concrete and chlorine kinda girl, but I LOVE to sit out on the deck, coffee in hand, book in the other hand, and watch the waves! Here are some of my favorite pics from our trip. I'll put a slide show together if I ever figure out how! :)

2 Month Well Baby Check!

Well, today was the day I've been dreading for 2 months! Eli's 1st set of shots! I made Jay take this morning off to go with me... I figured I could comfort Eli, and Jay could comfort me! Eli was actually in rare form this morning and was sooooooooo happy for Dr. John and Stacy. He just kicked his legs, grinned, and cooed up a storm. He weighed in at 12 pounds (just below the 75th percentile) and 24 inches (just above the 75th percentile). He also decided during the exam that since Dr. John was asking about bowel movements that he would just show him! It took Dr. John and Jay both to change his diaper and it ended up all wopperjawed. Meanwhile, I just stood back, took pics, and laughed! Jay wants to know how much John is going to charge for that procedure! :) After Dr. John was finished with Eli's exam, Stacy came in to give the shots. I made Jay hold Eli's hands down while I just observed. Selfishly I wanted to be the one to come in and comfort Eli when it was all done. Eli let out a scream (not cry, but scream) during the shots (3 of them), but then he actually recovered quickly and was asleep before we left the office. Overall it went better than I expected. Eli and I both teared up momentarily, but no tears were actually shed. We are home now and he is sleeping. Here are some pics from our big adventure to the doctor and a video of Eli putting on a show while we wait on Dr. John:

Swimming Lessons!

Eli is a little fish!! Tonite Eli and I joined Kellye and Cole in Fairfield for a little swim at an indoor, heated pool. Eli loved it! He just kicked his legs like he was born swimming. He is too little to really know what is going on so he was relaxed and acted like it was just a big bathtub. I had to find a little swim diaper (for Eli), and for all you new moms out there... the disposable swim diapers start at 16 pounds, but the cloth swim diapers go all the way down to 8 pounds. Cloth meaning, you have to wash them out! And of course Eli like to mess every time he wears it, even when we're just trying it on for size! :) Cole also loves the water and I think will be swimming by next summer!

Bye, Bye Boat!

It's official! The Owings family is boatless for the first time in 6 years! :( We had to take one last dinner cruise and take Eli for his first boat ride. Here are some pics of Eli in his life jacket. He didn't actually seem to mind even though it looks extremely uncomfortable. He was a trooper, but he did get hot quick so we left him with Gram while we took a little cruise down the river. Bye my little cruise ship! We will surely miss you!

Micah and Eli

On Sunday we had a little shower for Eli at Luminary! I was too busy talking to take many pics, but I did get a few of Micah, Kelli, and Eli. Micah just turned 2 and was so jealous of Eli in his mom's lap! :) We really appreciate the love and support from all our friends at Luminary! Thanks for the fabulous shower!

Waiting on Baby Maddox!

Saturday was the shower for Kelli and Baby Maddox! Yes... another BOY! Maddox got all kinds of cool things and lots of "mommies favorites" from the new moms! Eli, Noah, and Drew had a great time at the shower and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 4th man on their basketball team!

Isn't this an adorable wreath! It has all kinds of baby goodies!
Eli and Gram, Drew and Gramma Linda, Noah and Gramma Arlene!
Wouldn't you know that the Gramma's immediately went to the boys! :)
Maggie was the only girl in this group of babies, but I think she will be able to hold her own!
