Knox, Neily, and Eli.... Oh My!

Just wanted to update everyone on how Knox and Neily are handling the new addition to our family! The dogs are adjusting slowly, but we are making progress. Thankfully they have each other to entertain. So far Knox is more comfortable with Eli and will actually get close enough to sniff at him when he is asleep. Normally they both are apprehensive about Eli's sounds and movements when he is awake and will do anything to avoid getting close. However, they can't stand not to cuddle on the couch even when we are holding a wide awake Eli! Here's a few pics of Jay, Knox, Neily, and Eli!

Bath Time!

Eli loves bath time! We are still sponge bathing while we wait for his umbillical stump to fall off. At first I was a little nervous about holding him over the sink, soaping up his head, and rinsing it off so I made Jay help me with this task. But now I am a pro! Eli loves having the warm water run over his head and this is probably one of his most alert time periods. I love watching him make different faces and lotioning him up so he smells nice! Here he is with his little Pottery Barn hooded towel. Isn't he beautiful?!

The Eye Crud!!!

Yesterday, we woke up with the eye crud!! Isn't it pitiful! Eli didn't seem to be too bothered by it, but by noon his poor eye was swollen shut and I knew it was time to call Dr. John. He said that it was either a blocked lacrimal duct or an eye infection, both of which are common in newborns. So we are using an erythromycin eye gel just in case and he really doesn't seem to mind. We're also applying a warm wash cloth several times daily in case it's a blocked duct. Today the eye seems to be better, but we'll continue to monitor it for improvement. I just had to post pics of it since it looks so sad!!! :(

Eli and Amanda's 1st BIG Adventure!

Yesterday Eli and I actually left the house for the 1st time by ourselves! It was very liberating and an emotional pick-me-up for mommy! First we visited the Dental Office and had lunch with Jay! It was his first full day back to work and we knew it would be a long one so we thought it necessary for a middle of the day visit! I wish I had thought to take pics, but I was just thankful to have gotten the necessities (diapers, wipes, extra clothes, burp cloths, etc) packed. After lunch, we went to visit Carrie at Ella Minnow Pea and to order birth announcements. It was fun to surprise her and was a fabulous visit! Last, but definitely not least, we stopped at Sonic and got mommy a Route 44 Strawberry Limeaide. I was nervous about getting Eli in and out of places, operating the carseat, and how we would time his feeding, so the Limeaide was my reward for a job well done!
